I didn’t sleep well last night
So I’m thinking about changing cars, and I need opinions. I live up in Canada, where there is a thing we call winter. I currently have two cars. A 2004 Saab 9-3 that I own since 2008 for the winter and a 2014 Mustang V6 that I own since 2014 (bought used) for summer.
We’re having a second baby in january. A rear facing baby seat will not fit in the Mustang. That’s not really a problem, cause the baby could travel for it’s first year in the wife’s car. It’s not a problem, but kind of a bummer.
What I’m thinking right now, is should I sell my two cars and buy a used 2014 or 2015 Fiesta ST? Then I would have only one car, all year round. It would not cost me any money, I think I could be even.
I love the Mustang, but I don’t like the attention it gets. And I test drove a Fiesta and it was just as much fun.
Or, should I sell the Mustang now, before winter, drive the Saab next winter and buy the Fiesta next year? The Saab is worth like 1000$, so another winter won’t hurt the value so much.

Focus ST, sell both. You’ll also save more money due to not insuring two cars; unless insurance works differently up there.

Do cocaine to wake yourself up,
then
look for a car. You don’t want to get a car when you’re not in the right nood.

Well I put one or the other in storage when I’m not using it, so I’m paying half of each insurance

And Focus STs are still too pricey, I would end up spending like 4-5k at the end

Then Fiesta it is! The Fiesta is awesome. Good luck!

WRX hatchback (2013-2014)
All weather capability, still fun, will baby better than a Fiesta.
Just don’t wear a flat brimmed hat backwards while driving, or everyone will think you’re That Guy™

go for a Focus ST , bigger than Fiesta , so you’ll be right for quite a few years.

If the new one was a hatchback, I would be all over it. I just don’t like the fuel consumption of the old one

I know, but they are still a lot more pricey than the Fiestas, like 4-5k more for a 2014 with same mileage

but worth it for the extra space , considering how much crap a baby requires.

When we had our first child, my wife was determined to stick with her two-door coupe. I knew we were in trouble when I had to install the first rear-facing car seat. It wasn’t modular, so we had to crawl into the back to strap my daughter in every time. Twice a day. Every day.
Within a couple of weeks, we purchased a modular car seat. The base was installed and remained in place while the seat clicked into position like a computer on a docking station. This made it much easier to deal with. Strapping the baby into the seat was so much easier when you didn’t have to crawl into the back of the car, but it still required some contortions to install and remove the seat.
Two months later we bought a four-door car. It was worth every penny.
Before you decide on an FiST, take the baby and the car seat down for a test fitting. Try again with a FoST and a WRX.
My wife has an SUV, but I regularly transport the kids in my car, so them being comfortable (and not kicking my seat) was important. One of the reasons I bought the WRX was that my kids were more comfortable in the back.

Be nood (nude) when looking for cars.

Yeah I would at least look what the used market is, as lots of FoST owners seem to get bored of them easily.

Speaking as a parent of a 2 year old and 7 month old, and having recently traveled with them and their accoutrement, you need the FoST. The FiST is great, but baby seats take up a ton of space, especially while they’re rear-facing. I currently have a 2012 Fusion and our car was packed to the brim when we went on vacation last week.
Now, if you’re not planning on doing any traveling for a few years, then get whichever one you can fit the car seat in. My recommendation is still the FoST though. I’m actually looking in to one myself so that I can retire the Crown Vic.

Thanks, we already have the clicking type of seat. It’s godd idea to bring it to test fit it.

Thanks, I might go to a Ford dealer with the seats and do tests
